One of my mentee students learned this the hard way. She had a big tree next to her rental and the branches should have been trimmed back. Heavy storm rolled through one branch and it slammed right onto the roof.
The damage was so bad the repair bid came back at like $7,500. At that point she might as well to replace the entire roof. This is why you got to pay attention to tree distance and overhang.
It's a small detail that can turn into a massive bill.
